The King and I

Landers Theatre @ 07:30 PM

Posted by: SRAC

THE KING AND I is one of the all time marvels of the musical theatre stage. East meets West in a most dramatic, richly textured, and uplifting fashion. It's 1862 and the King of Siam has summoned an English widow and her young son to the Royal Palace in Bangkok to serve as a tutor to his many children and wives and to help change his image from barbaric to refined. With a firm grip on their respective values and traditions, Anna and the King grow to understand and respect one another in a truly unique love story. The dazzling score of all time favorites includes "Getting To Know You," "Shall We Dance?" "Hello Young Lovers,"and "I Whistle A Happy Tune."

In response to the tragedy in Haiti, Springfield Little Theatre is partnering with Convoy of Hope in a canned food drive. Prior to the earthquake last Tuesday, Convoy of Hope fed more than 7,000 Hatian children each day. They have now opened their warehouse in an effort to help supply food to the thousands of families in need. Convoy of Hope's greatest need is canned food items. For that reason, Springfield Little Theatre has established a canned food drive in conjunction with their production of The King and I. Patrons can receive $5.00 off each and every King and I ticket they purchase by donating 4 cans per ticket. This offer is good for any King and I performance.
