Springfield Regional Arts Council will present a Book Builders, a week-long summer camp for children ages 7-10. Children will learn to write and illustrate books that can roll, flip, fold, and have a handle. The workshop will be facilitated by artist educators Susan Fletcher BS & MS in Education and Kathy Hoke, a retired 30 year literacy teacher. The workshop will be held at The Creamery Arts Center, 411 N. Sherman Parkway, on July 6-10 from 10:00 AM to Noon. The cost of the workshop is $40 and supplies are included. On July 9, Michael Burns will discuss the topic: Can Poetry Be Used to Tell a Story? Michael Burns recently retired from MSU, where he taught for 27 years. He has been the recipient of several regional and national awards including the National Endowment for the Arts Award.The Creamery Writers' Workshop is an outreach program of the Springfield Regional Arts Council and is free and open to all writers, regardless of age or genre. No registration is required The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday each month from 7 to 8:30p.m. in The Creamery across from Hammons Field.
