A.J. Schnack, Director of "About A Son: The Kurt Cobain Story", is working on a documentary about Branson, Missouri.

From his blog:
"For the past two months, I've been spending the majority of my time not in Los Angeles, but in Branson, Missouri, at work on a new nonfiction feature about the community that Bart Simpson once referred to as "Vegas if Ned Flanders ran it" and once famously dubbed "the live entertainment capitol of the world".

For the first time in my filmmaking career, I am co-directing with my good friend David Wilson, whom most of you know as the co-conspirator behind the popular and influential True/False Film Festival, but who I have known for years as an accomplished artist in his own right."

Here's the link to his story about the documentary. You can also find it on the MFAS blog!

Film Maker Networking with MFAS

Wednesday July 30th
4:00 - 6:00 pm
Moxie Cinema
408 W Walnut Street

Join us for our monthly networking event. We had a dozen folks in June and one of the highlights was Drew's short film "Stop". A stop action film by the high school junior, it had the entire group digging into his experience shooting it and drew high praise (look for it at Founder's Park in August!).

If you'd like to show your trailer, short or work-in-progress, contact Cina Canada at c.canada@mac.com or call her at 417.860.9948. While you're at it, congratulate her on becoming an Aunt!

The movie "Mongol", about Ghengis Khan, is showing that evening at 6:00 pm. Academy Award nominated, here's a recent review by photographer Rick Sammons who just completed a photo shoot in Mongolia

"I just saw the movie, Mongol. It is one of the most amazing movies I have ever seen. The photography is stunning, breathtaking. It's a must-see for movie-goers - and anyone interested in filmmaking."
