Gigs at the Gillioz: Cruize Control Benefit for Konnor Rose

Friday, August 01, 2008

Local band Cruize Control will be performing as a part of the Gillioz Theatre's Gigs at the Gillioz music series on August 5, 2008, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 if guests choose to support the family of Konnor Rose. Standard ticket price is $7.

Cruize Control plays several genres of music, with an emphasis on the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, The Eagles and Jimmy Buffett. The band's most popular gig is a Jimmy Buffett tribute, which has developed a large following. Cruize Control's members include Rick Lamb, Rick Mulheron, David Pyck, Drew Webber, George Long Jr., Mark McConnell and Craig Blevins.

Opening act will be Springfield Music's School of Rock All Star Band, formed in 2008. They all met in various programs at Springfield Music, such as the "School of Rock" & "Rock Camp". It was in these programs that they learned the basics of being in a band, from choosing a band name to creating their own CD artwork, as well as how to work with other musicians. The band consists of singer Jessica Carver, 12, guitarist Jacob Burch, 14, guitarist Keegan Spears, 11, guitarist Conner Baker, 15, bassist John Bogue, 13, and drummer Tanner Watts, 10. A passion for music brings them together as they rock Springfield.

A portion of the proceeds from this concert will benefit Konnor Rose. Konnor was born blind and is in need of a special surgery. Unfortunately, this surgery is only available in China. Rick's Automotive has brought together Cruize Control and a surprise opening act to help fund Konnor's surgery. There will also be a silent auction during intermission including a chance to win a rid in a hot air balloon. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Konnor Rose.

Please join us for the concert and do your part to help this wonderful child see again on August 5th at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Gillioz Theatre box office or by calling 417-863-9491, Monday - Friday, 10am - 2pm. Box office will also open one hour before show time. Tickets are also on sale at Rick's Automotive, Aqua Sports Scuba Center, and WineStyles.
