Arts Council Kicks Off Season With Pastel Painting Workshop

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

The Springfield Regional Arts Council is offering a three-day Pastel Painting workshop taught by local artist Kathryn Linstrom Harrison, on September 9, 10 and 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Creamery Arts Center.

Harrison is a founding member of the Denver Art Students League and her artistic abilities have benefited through serious study with well-known artists. An impressionist with a traditional background who then ventured into abstract expressionist work, Harrison endeavors to share and express herself in a greater freedom by allowing her spirituality to guide her.

Students will spend one workshop day working on still lifes, another doing en plein air outdoors work (weather permitting) and the last day will be on portraits in pastels with a live model. Cost is $75 per person and a supply list will be provided. Registration is for all three days; no single workshops available. Early registration is recommended as attendance is limited. No prior experience with pastels is required.

To register or for more information, call the Springfield Regional Arts Council, 417-862-ARTS (2787). A full listing of fall and winter programming at The Creamery Arts Center can be found starting Friday, August 15 at www.SpringfieldArts.org.
