Arts Council Presents Double Dose Of Art

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Get a double dose of local artwork at two Springfield locations: the Facial Plastic Surgery Offices of Dr. Keith A. LaFerriere and Dr. Matthew A. Kienstra on the St. John's campus (1965 S. Fremont, Suite 120) and in the Greene County Commissioner's Office (933 N. Robberson). Both exhibits are a part of the Springfield Regional Arts Council's Art in Public Places program, bringing local art into local businesses. The exhibits are currently up, free and open to the public and will remain through September 25.

The Facial Plastic Surgery Offices will feature artwork by Audrey Bottrell and Clarissa French, both of Springfield. Bottrell formed her portrait business in 1988, using her unique ability to capture the very essence of the person and is a commissioned artist for the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and PGA golfers.

French works as a freelance writer and was the former editor of the Springfield Business Journal. After years of focusing on words, she is now also expressing herself without words, using photography. Her show features abstract designs formed by mirroring and merging original photographs

The Greene County Commissioner's Office will host artwork by Sherry Wilson, a local artist who's medium of choice is watercolor. She also works in many other media including colored pencil, pastel, and most recently jewelry. For Wilson, painting is an exciting passion that keeps her painting even late at night. She believes very strongly that original art should be affordable and available to anyone who wants to enjoy it.

Watch for upcoming Art in Public Places exhibits coming to a business near you. If you are interested in participating in the Art in Public Places Program, either as an artist or as a host business, contact the Springfield Regional Arts Council, 417-862-ARTS (2787) or email info@springfieldarts.org.
