Ola!
Independent film work has been very active this summer with a number of projects going into post-production (editing) now that school is about to begin again. That means it's time to begin preparing for the next round and here's a great project that anyone who's ever had an itch to see their words acted out on the big screen.
Springfield 417- The Movie project for 2009
===============================
Friends, writers, gather 'round... We're still gathering scenes from different writers to put together into a vignette movie of Springfield, Missouri. The working title is: "SPRINGFIELD 417--- Periods of Revelation."
We're looking to do several 5 to 7 minute shorts that can be filmed somewhere in Springfield, Missouri, and that deal with compelling storylines. (If you've seen the movie "Paris, Je T'aime" it will be a similar production in terms of vignetted storylines.)
The subtitle, "Periods of Revelations" is the theme of the movie. Something should be revealed that changes the protagonist's life, direction or maybe it changes the movie's direction.
My goal is to build a local, interacting community of movie-makers and artists (including musicians, writers, dancers, etc.) that will work together to help bolster each other in their various projects. Hopefully this project will be a catalyst towards that end.
Our deadline for storylines will be:
One paragraph synopsis -- September 1, 2008- Labor Day
Finished scripts ----------- November 13, 2008

The big move to the new space kicks off September 2nd. You still have time to catch quality films in the original theatre, in particular "The Wackness" which began yesterday. Highly recommended!
It's the summer of 1994, and the streets of New York are pulsing with hip-hop and wafting with the sweet aroma of marijuana—but change is in the air. Ben Kingsley, Olivia Thirlby, Famke Janssen, Mary Kate Olsen, and Method Man round out the cast in this edgy, bittersweet and funny coming-of-age story. Winner of the Audience Award at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.

And if you aren't up-to-date on the move, you haven't been reading the 'countdown blog'.

And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention this one
The Adventures of Food Boy
Lucas Grabeel (Springfield native and HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL star) headlines this hilarious and endearing comedy about a teenager who is shocked to learn he possesses an extremely rare talent—he can make food appear in his hands.
