An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until September 23, 2023

The event will bring some 150+ screenwriting professors and practitioners from all over the world to Columbia for the week. Professors and writers from as far away as New Zealand to as close as Kansas City, from France and Italy and Finland and Brazil will be sampling the local cuisine, enjoying the hospitality, and the vibrant arts of Columbia, Missouri. Registered conference attendees will enjoy Keynote speakers: Phil Lazebnik (Mulan, Prince of Egypt) who grew up in Columbia as his father was an English professor at Stephens College for over 30 years and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out, Captain America) we’ve added Lorien McKenna (a Pixar story editor and television producer). Also, Meg and Lorien host a podcast called The Screenwriter’s Life with over 5,000 listeners and they will be recording an episode live from the campus of Stephens College that Saturday morning. previous podcasts

There are TWO public events are scheduled that week as well:

THURSDAY: September 21, 2023 7:30-9pm. Costume exhibition - Costumes from films from the 1920s to the 1970s on display in the Lela Rainey Wood Hall - 6 N. College Ave. Columbia, MO 65201 no tickets necessary. mezzanine.

SATURDAY: September 23, 2023 Ragtag Theatre 10 Hitt St, Columbia, MO 65201 will have a showing of Inside Out with its screenwriter Meg LeFauve on hand for a Q&A afterwards. Tickets are required and will be on sale through their website in early August.
