Date: November 7, 3-5pm @ The Creamery Arts Center

Presenter: Paige Oxendine, Habitat Communication & Culture

Great teams are hard to build and even harder to maintain. And those challenges become even more difficult in a nonprofit setting, where staff leaders must cultivate a strong internal staff team while also developing a nurturing an effective board of directors. As difficult as building an effective team is, years of research suggests one single factor matters more than anything else: psychological safety.

This engaging session takes an in-depth look at the role of trust and psychological safety, unraveling their definitions, importance, and the science that underscores their role in any team’s success. As a result, attendees will walk away with a better understanding of these crucial elements along with strategies they can immediately put in place to enhance trust and psychological trust among their own teams and boards.

Objectives:

A thorough understanding of how trust and psychological safety impact team effectiveness and staff/board dynamics

A model for understanding the natural stages of team development, along with strategies for moving into a team’s most effective stage
