Not every child has easy access to the arts, especially in underserved communities. To bridge this gap, the Springfield Regional Arts Council created
Growing Up In The Arts, a program dedicated to bringing enriching arts experiences directly to schools and organizations across 27 surrounding communities.
Our program partners with professional teaching artists to deliver immersive sessions in a wide range of artistic disciplines. From visual arts and dance to drama and performance, students in grades K-8 explore hands-on creativity and experience live performances, gallery visits, and concerts that inspire learning and self-expression.
Growing Up In The Arts aligns with SRAC’s mission by offering a comprehensive arts education that educates, uplifts, and encourages young minds. Our curriculum builds art literacy through interdisciplinary activities that connect with literature, critical thinking, reading, writing, and class discussions. We aim to foster cultural understanding, academic confidence, and a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
We’re proud to partner with organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, Harmony House, Ujima, and more ensuring that students and families receive valuable learning experiences tailored to their needs. Through film-making, musical theatre, pottery, multimedia art, and more, children in our program truly get to do it all.
