Metamorphosis: The Transformative Nature of Art
Drop off: July 25 & 26, 2018
met·a·mor·pho·sis (noun): a change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one, by natural or supernatural means.
How has your art changed you? How have you changed your art? This show aims to highlight the transformation and growth of our artist members throughout their creative process. For this show there are three requirements: one piece that has been made within the past year, and one image of either that piece in process as it morphs into it’s final form, or an image of an earlier work by the artist that illustrates their growth, and a statement by the artist (up to 300 words) about the change within their works.
To be eligible for display:
- Be a member of the SRAC (you can join upon drop off)
- Artwork must be wired and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers allowed.
- Piece should be a recent work, and not have been shown at The Creamery before.
- Include a brief artist statement about your process or piece (for information on how to do that, visit our website HERE), as well as a 4x6 photo of earlier work (or earlier drafts of the submitted piece). You may email your statement to firstname.lastname@example.org, or bring a typed copy during drop off.
- 3D work also accepted.
For further inspiration, we've included a few pieces by famous artists showing their own metamorphosis:
