Call for Art: Still Life at The Sky Gallery
The Springfield-Branson National Airport had over one million passengers in 2018, setting a record year. With all the hustle and bustle, The Sky Gallery invites artists to create pieces inspired by still life, encouraging patrons to slow down and notice the details.
Still Life has remained a popular genre across all art movements and media. Inspired by the inanimate, still life works typically feature an arrangement of objects. Springfield Regional Arts Council artists are invited to submit 2D works of still life to be on display at The Sky Gallery from February 14, 2019 through May 13, 2019.
Submit up to 5 digital images (JPGs) of actual works you hope to have selected for exhibition. Name each JPG with your first initial, last name and piece title (example: JSmithTitle.jpg). Send all submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight, January 30th, 2019.
Because of the nature of the exhibition space in which the show will take place, submissions must meet the following restrictions:
Artwork (including dimension of frame) is recommended to be at least 36” on one side.
Hanging the art requires that the piece be wired with D-Rings, at least 10” from the top.
Works must be two-dimensional (no three-dimensional work)
Artists will be selected by an anonymous jurying process. All submissions will be notified of acceptance or rejection on Monday, February 4th. The show will be hung Thursday, February 14th at 9am. All participating artists are expected to drop off their work at this time and assist in the hanging process if available.
