‘Pushing Back: From Circe to #MeToo’ March 26 at Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library

Adults are invited to attend Pushing Back: From Circe to #MeToo at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library, 2214 Brentwood Blvd.

The stories of Circe, Captain Marvel and the #MeToo movement all revolve around women speaking up and fighting back. Join Missouri State University professors Dr. Erin Kenny, Michael Frizell and Dr. Holly Holladay, as they connect centuries-old powerful female deities, modern American-made superheroines and current movements in the media for a stirring discussion of female power and where we go from here.

Art Exploration at The Library Station

‘Art Exploration’ Jan. 19 at Library Station

Families with children in grades K-6 are invited to attend Art Exploration at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, in the Library Station Story Hour Room, 2535 N. Kansas Expressway.

Come and create using your imagination and a range of artistic styles and mediums. This month’s theme is Pop Art and Printmaking. Materials will be provided.

Springfield Missouri Art Exhibits

The Springfield Regional Arts Council is hosting an artists' challenge and exhibit at The Creamery Arts Center inspired by the novel "Circe" by Madeline Miller. "Circe" is The Springfield-Greene County Library District's One Read celebration. Local artists working in all media are challenged to transform classic tales and muses into something new and modern.
