Avant Art Open House December 1
Head to the Springfield Art Museum on Saturday December 1 from 10 AM to 6 PM to shop their holiday sale and view the incredible work on display from local artists who live or work in City Council Zone 3 in the Art In Our City exhibition.
The Messiah Project will produce Two Winter Holiday Operas in cooperation with MSU Opera Department, directed by Dr. Ann Marie Daehn; the MSU Chamber Orchestra, directed by Dr. Amy Muchnick; and dancers from Credo Dance Academy.
Please join us for the opening reception of "Decades: 90 Years of Collecting," our 90th Anniversary special exhibition tracing the history and growth of the Museum’s permanent collection beginning with the initial acquisition in 1928.
Join our Association of Midwest Museums "2016 Promising Leader" award-winning Curator of Art Sarah Buhr, as she discusses the curatorial process behind putting together the biennial "Four by Four: Midwest Invitational Exhibition." Enjoy a walk through the exhibition as Sarah highlights how each represented artist addresses the exhibit's themes. This art enrichment event is free and open to the public.
Join Teaching Artist Cory Leick for the fourth in a series of Mixed Media Meet Ups, Fairy/Angel Ornaments. Create your own fanciful fairies or angels for your holiday tree or to give as gifts. This one-night workshop costs $15. Registration is required; materials are provided; however participants should bring a roll of wire and a hot glue gun. Intended for adults, ages 18+
Join Teaching Artist Cory Leick for the third in a series of Mixed Media Meet Ups, Hand Lettered Bunting. Learn to make decorative letterforms using your child’s name or your choice of word. Then apply your knowledge to create a lovely hanging bunting (banner) for your child’s room, your hearth, or doorway.This one-night workshop costs $15. Registration is required; materials are provided; however participants should bring a 6-10 foot length of ribbon of their choice. Intended for adults, ages 18+
