"The Principles of Composition
Understanding What Really Matters"
(It’s not about the rule of thirds)
Speaker Robert Kraft, Fine Art Photographer
Wednesday, January 10, 2018
The Gallery, National Avenue Christian Church
1515 South National Avenue
Robert will provide a review of several principles of composition that are relevant to all visual artists, painters and photographers alike. His presentation will include principles deemed valid not only from his own experience, but included in books and seminars from noted painters and photographers. Robert will recommend two books he believes contain the best advice on composition, one authored by a modern day master painter and another book from an acclaimed fine art photographer.
His presentation will include a critique of several images, some good and some not so good, that include examples of the compositional principles discussed. After Robert guides you through some examples you will be given the opportunity to conduct your own critiques of the compositional elements of some additional images and the opportunity to ask questions.
Robert shared: "While I have done some drawing and painting, my main interest is in Photography as Fine Art. I am drawn to floral and botanical subjects which I photograph both outdoors and in studio. I also enjoy photographing the great outdoors in the Ozarks."
