From the Springfield Contemporary Theatre:
Like all of you, we at Springfield Contemporary Theatre have been closely following the COVID-19 outbreak. The health, safety and well-being of our staff, artists, volunteers, audiences and our fellow Springfieldians has been and continues to be our top priority, and with that in mind, we’ve made the decision to postpone our March/April production of The Cake to support citywide efforts to reduce the coronavirus spread.
We in turn will extend our 25th Anniversary Season through June 2020. Currently, our next production will be the Broadway musical Parade opening, as scheduled, on May 1. This production will be followed by The Cake which will now run in June 2020. Options are also being explored to reschedule SCT Sings Burt Bacharach previously announced for March 29 & 30. Once new dates for each production are settled in the coming days they will be announced. At that time, we will begin the process of re-ticketing and/or refunding tickets. Please wait to call the box office until we are able to get new dates settled.
As we all navigate this situation together, we’re reminded that the heartbeat of our community is shared moments of creating or experiencing theater together. While nothing can fully replace those in-person connections and conversations that live theater and gathering together sparks, we’re working diligently and creatively to bring audiences productions as soon as it is deemed safe.
We appreciate your continued support and your understanding as we make these difficult decisions in the best interest of our city, our team and our community. Please take care of yourselves and each other.
