For 40 years, the Springfield Regional Arts Council, along with the Downtown Springfield Association, has celebrated the arts and the coming of spring with Artsfest on Historic Walnut Street at the beginning of May. However, in light of the continued bans, due to public health and safety concerns, on large gatherings in our community through mid-May, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone Artsfest 2020.
We have formed an Artsfest 2020 Task Force to plan a fall event in place of our traditional spring festival. Continuing our long-lasting relationship with the DSA, Artsfest will combine with Cider Days to host a unique community festival. In keeping with the SRAC’s mission of transforming lives and enriching the community through the arts, we can’t wait to showcase all the arts have to offer in southwest Missouri and welcome our community out to enjoy each other’s company once again.
The combined event will take place on Walnut Street Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20. This “super event” will expand the fall festival’s footprint with more artist vendors, performers, and all the other amazing components you’ve come to enjoy from both community festivals.
It is important to note, that the Springfield Regional Arts Council will return to our beloved Artsfest on Historic Walnut Street on May 1 & 2, 2021. We hope you will come back and join us again next spring too!
