The History Museum on the Square, located at 154 Park Central Square, Located within the 104-year old former Barth’s department-store building and the one adjacent, will not be participating for Art Walk. The museum has more than 18,000-square feet of space, giving it room for continued expansion. There are three floors with eight dedicated spaces including a Welcome Center, six permanent galleries and the traveling exhibit space.
Admission rates for the museum are $16 for adults; $13 for seniors (65-plus), students of any age with a valid ID, and members of the military and families; $10 for children ages 4-12; and free to those under the age of three. Obelisk Home at the Inspired Commerce Building, 214 W. Phelps, Obelisk Home and OH Gallery presents Artists Betty Parnell and Jane Parker. Jane Parker and Betty Parnell are artists who work from their home studios. For several years, an important part of their art making has been maintaining a dialogue regarding their work in progress. As a natural outcome of that supportive interaction, they decided to share a First Friday show hosted by their mutual gallery, Obelisk Home. The show, consisting of 18 paintings and drawings, is titled “Two Friends”, and runs through the month of August.
The launch of Obelisk Home’s 14th Annual Birdhouse Auction benefiting Habitat for Humanity at the August Art Walk. Artists were asked to design a birdhouse without any limitations and have donated their creations to allow all proceeds to go directly to this wonderful organization. Bidding will commence at 6 PM and will run through September’s FFAW at 10PM September 4th. Anyone can bid on these birdhouses throughout the month by coming to the gallery/store during open hours and writing in on our silent auction sheets. Obelisk Home will be open from 6-10 PM for FFAW. Please wear a mask and observe social distancing when possible.
