Gigs in the Garden

Gigs in the Garden

Central Bank and Central Trust present Gigs in the Garden, an outdoor concert series at 2 p.m. on Sun., Sept. 20 and Sundays in October. The concerts take place at the Peace Through People Pavilion located within the beautiful Kay Cummins Finnie Dogwood Garden in Springfield Botanical Gardens, 2400 S. Scenic Ave., Springfield, Mo. Admission is free but a $10 donation is suggested to support garden projects.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and social distance to enjoy a variety of local performance groups in an extraordinary setting. In the case of inclement weather, Friends of the Garden will livestream the concerts on social media.

The Breakfast Sides perform on October 18. Chad “Gravy” Graves and “Biscuit” Betsey Mae are a husband and wife duo playing classic country, bluegrass and original music.

Kentucky 31 performs on October 25. Traditional bluegrass at its core, the band is made up of two father and son teams: Max and Jason King of Dadeville and Larry and Brent Smith of Stockton.

Gigs in the Garden is organized by Ric Mayer, maintainer of the Kickapoo Edge Prairie, and Linda Chorice, former Springfield Conservation Nature Center Manager. The series is managed by Friends of the Garden and Springfield Sister Cities Association in cooperation with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.

The Peace Through People Pavilion was constructed in late 2016 to encourage more cultural performances and community events in the Springfield Botanical Gardens. The Pavilion furthers the Friends of the Garden mission to bring people, nature, and gardens together as well as the Springfield Sister Cities Association mission of Peace Through People.
