‘Masterpiece Art Studio: Space Galaxy Painting’ June 27 at Willard Branch Library

Registration is underway for ‘tweens in grades 4-8 to attend Masterpiece Art Studio: Space Galaxy Painting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, at the Willard Branch Library, 304 E. Jackson St.

Create your own unique painting of the galaxy using paint and spray bottles. Materials will be provided; space is limited.

Adults are invited to attend Pushing Back: From Circe to #MeToo at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library, 2214 Brentwood Blvd.

The stories of Circe, Captain Marvel and the #MeToo movement all revolve around women speaking up and fighting back. Join Missouri State University professors Dr. Erin Kenny, Michael Frizell and Dr. Holly Holladay, as they connect centuries-old powerful female deities, modern American-made superheroines and current movements in the media for a stirring discussion of female power and where we go from here.

Spooky Symphony

The Springfield Symphony invites children of all ages and their families to join us for the 10th Annual Spooky Symphony, a free Halloween concert, on Monday, October 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.

The orchestra, all dressed in their Halloween costumes, will be led by Maestro Kyle Wiley Pickett, and will feature performances of Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, How to Train Your Dragon, and many more.
