Susan was born and raised in Arizona and still enjoys visits back to the West. In 1970 Susan, late husband Bob, and their growing family decided to leave the big city of Phoenix and to move to the rural Missouri near Lake Stockton. They enjoyed living and raising their children in the Ozarks. In 2022 Susan met and married Steven McKinney and now signs paintings as Susan Neese McKinney.
Susan's thoughts: "Art has been a large part of my life since childhood. I strive to tell stories with my paintings that might touch your heart or make you ponder. Moments in time that might not be here tomorrow."
This quote says it for me so well: "What is art but a mold in which to imprison for a moment the shining, elusive element which is life itself—life hurrying past us and running away, too strong to stop, too sweet to lose." Willa Cather (1876-1947)
Susan learned the fundamentals of art from her mother at a young age and her talent has grown through the study of the masters and from workshops with artists she admires. She's won many awards and is proud to be represented by the following gallery: Lake Fine Art Academy & Galleria, Lake Ozark, Missouri.
