I am a ceramics artist, focusing primarily on wheel thrown functional works with a penchant for whimsy and bright colors. Detail varies from carving, to hand built additions, to differing glaze techniques. My work is primarily mid-fire stoneware. I am in a constant state of experimentation, open to learning new techniques and styles in my artistic journey. Even though I try to create fun, happy ceramics, I also try to make sure it’s practical pottery for practical people, fully functional and fun to use!
I am most recently known for my anatomical pieces, which was born from my full time job as a physical therapist. Currently, my favorite anatomical work is stackable spine cups, each cup featuring an anatomically correct vertebra as a handle. I look forward to developing more anatomy based work in the future.
I was born and raised in Springfield, MO. I received my Fine Arts minor and Exercise and Sports Science major at Drury University in 2012 and received my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Missouri State University in 2015. Ceramics won out as my true artistic love. Mudbug Creations began in 2011 and has been a constant source of joy for me ever since!
