Victoria holds a Master of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University. She uses pencil, pen & ink, Copic markers, and recently digital compositions. Her recent surreal montages, compiled from late 19th-century photographs, family pictures, and found images are a journey into the realm of dreams, memories, and fantasy. During quarantine she and her friend Patrick Harvey created 4 self-published books; combing imagery and poetry that participate in a call and response. She is a board member for the Visual Artist Alliance of Springfield, also an active member of the Springfield Regional Arts Council.
She worked with the curator at SIU Carbondale as an assistant and went on from there to help design exhibits for a small history museum. She taught art at the community college level while raising two boys. She worked at the Drury University Library as System Admin and web designer. She is excited to be creating art and making music full time.
What were their dreams? Where could they imagine themselves? This is what I ask myself when I see a vintage photo of someone. My pieces blend elements of reality and fantasy, combining surrealism and technology. I was always drawing something. As I got older, this love never faded. My choice of working digitally allows me to explore different methods and outcomes.
My art just happens.
